Bedford College Academies Trust (BCAT) was established to develop and provide the highest quality education to local young people.
Our specific aim is to deliver world-class education and skills to the communities we serve. BCAT sees itself as being part of a local family of schools and academies and will only consider sponsoring institutions if they wish to be sponsored by us. Our commitment to our local communities means that we are fully focussed on this area alone, meaning that all of our resources are locally available at all times.
BCAT has appointed two Local Advisory Bodies (“LABs”) and although not directors of BCAT itself, the LABs provide scrutiny and support at academy level.
Our Local Advisory Body Members:
- Ellie Gamble (Chair)
- Lucy Tanner (Vice Chair) – LAB Member Development
- Emma Baker (Parent) – Safeguarding
- Joe Canzano (Co-opted) – Pupil Premium
- Darsh Chand (Co-opted) – Most Able

Meet our LAB members
My partner and I have a ‘blended’ family of four adult children and two grandchildren. We are keen independent travellers. I love theatre, history, cinema, football (but only as a spectator), live music, cooking and reading.
I am the Chair of LAB for Wixams Academy and I also look after the finance.
I have 13 years’ experience in Retail, in both operations and central functions, including roles at Tesco and Amazon. More latterly, my career has focused on change leadership, with my specialism being in establishing change frameworks and methods in organisations who are less mature in this type of approach. I am truly passionate about “paying it forwards” and making a contribution within my local community. I hope to utilise my skills to support the Academy deliver the best possible educational experience for all its pupils.
My two year old daughter consumes most of my free time (and energy!) when time allows, I enjoy running. Having recently renovated our family home, this has sparked a passion for interiors which I hope to continue.
I am the Deputy Chair and am also responsible for development and governance.
I am currently doing the stay at home Mum thing, but prior to this I worked as a Primary School Teacher for seven years, with an interest in SEND, especially ASC. I began my career as a Learning Mentor, running Nurture Groups and working with children with Social, Emotional and Behavioral difficulties. I have worked in a number of schools primarily in inner city Birmingham, which has given a range of experiences, including working with very high proportions of children with EAL.
I have two sons Seb, who is nearly 3 and Finn who is 5 months. When I’m not playing with diggers and making forts I like all things creative (especially textiles) and run a small hobby business, primarily in dress making, although of late most of my work seems to have been crochet based.
I am a driven, articulate, credible and engaging professional people leader with over 30 years of retail experience. Enthusiastic, positive, energetic and results driven with a proven track record in developing and delivering strategic propositions, corporate change programmes and simplification initiatives. At my best, having fun, making a difference, winning and taking people on the journey.
A proud family man. Happily married with three wonderful children. Jaya 23 – just completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology, Priya – Year 10 student at Wixams Academy and Founder Member Ashwin – Year 8 student at Wixams Academy. I love – Golf, Travel, Reading and Socialising.
My responsibilities at Wixams Academy include; pupil progress, attending LAB meetings, support for Open Evenings, helping out wherever and whenever I can.
I am a highly motivated professional with 30 years of extensive and diverse experience working within large financial services organisations. My current focus is on on supply chain management and associated risk assurance activities. I work for an organisation that actively encourages all colleagues to get involved within our communities, and to ‘Help Britain Prosper’… albeit this is more about recovering from the pandemic at this time.
I am married to Laura, with three young children, and we moved to Wixams in 2016. Toby and Zara are both at Wixams Tree, and are very excited about joining the Academy in future years. My eldest Nico (some of you may know him!) is currently at Wixams Academy and is very happy. As a parent with a young family, I am passionate about opportunities to support the local community, and I see the schools being an integral part of creating a prosperous environment for all.
I believe I have the appropriate skills and broad experience along with business acumen to make a positive contribution. I have been asked to focus on Pupil Premium.
