News Dr Bike – Beds Borough Bike Safety Scheme – Wixams Academy Drop-in Sessions

Wixams Academy are working with Bedford Borough Council to promote and encourage safe and sustainable journeys to school.

Active travel (walking and cycling) provides many benefits:

It is good for our health
It is good for the planet
It does not generate pollution or congestion
It is an easy and fun way to get around
It engenders independence and confidence
Students arrive at school ready to learn, fresh and with active minds

Pupils who bring their bikes to school on Monday 29 November will be able to receive a free set of USB bike lights to help them ride through winter.

We will also be offering Dr Bike sessions on:

Tuesday 30 November (for Y7/8)
Wednesday 1 December (for Y9/10/11)

Please encourage your child to bring their bike on the appropriate day(s)

If your child is unable to consider walking or cycling, why not take one of the school buses?

If this is not possible, please arrange to drop off and pick up your child from Wanderers Park (MK42 6AA).

Please keep Green Lane free of traffic so that pupils at the schools can use it safely.
